Antwerp 1852 - Brussels 1908

Fabulous sculpture in bronze with brown sheen entitled "Est-ce toi?" (is it you?). A seductive naked couple at play. Beautiful movement of the bodies. Signed on the terrace. Most certainly casted by "la Compagnie des Bronzes de Bruxelles". A rarity on the market.

Size: H 70cm x W 33cm x D 50 cm

Belgian School, modelled in 1901.

Lit: Lambeaux considered this group as the pendant of his famous group "Le Baiser" modelled in 1881. In a letter to the founder, the artist specifies that he wants to limit the edition of this sculpture to 5 pieces. He will later on create a model based on this one, "La surprise".

The most iconic work of Lambeaux is the "Brabo fountain" located on the Grand Place of Antwerp since 1887. His masterpiece created in 1899 "Human passions" is a monumental bas-relief white marble (6m x 11m) set in the Horta pavilion of the Cinquantenaire Park in Brussels. Many works of Lambeaux are preserved in the museums of Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent, Leuven, Charleroi, Orsay (Paris). Other sculptures are exhibited in the communal houses of Saint-Gilles, Schaerbeek, Louvain, Dinant & Dendermonde. The artist also produced works to decorate the Antwerp’s Zoo, the Parc de Mariemont, the Antwerp Cathedral, the main square of Tienen, the Square Ambiorix in Brussels, the Cinquantenaire arcades, the Boverie park in Liège and Petit Sablon Park in Brussels.
