Mid 19th century

Elegant and rare garniture "Allegory of Wisdome" after 18th century model by Pierre-Antoine Foullet (master in 1749). Wisdome is always personified by a young woman, the snake is a primitive symbol of wisdome and the mirror is synonymous with "self-reflection" and not vanity. The candlesticks are a 19th century creation that match the clock. Original gilding.  White marble. Signed by the watchmaker on the enamelled dial and located in Montpellier, France. Beautiful chasing of the bronzes.
