Amazing ivory sculpture of an oriental half naked lady bearing a water jug. Traces of colours on the skirt, scarf, jug and stick. Gilt elements. Refine piece. Probably made in Dieppe.

Size: H 30cm x diameter 8cm

French School of the second part of the 19th century.

Thank to the recent exhibition in the Orsay Museum, “En couleur, la sculpture polychrome en France, 1850-1910”, the interest and the understanding of polychrome sculpture has increased. Its reference to the Antique Art is unveiled.
