Exceptional still life triptyque with animals and fruits. Very beautiful compositions in triangle standing on a marble shelf with animals with feathers, fur and seafood. This type of composition is a classic for the artist. Large round oils on canvases with their original frame. All signed down right. Very nice condition. Probably a special order for a dining room for a mansion. A rarity on the art market.

Lit : David Joseph de Noter is a Belgian painter and engraver born in Ghent in 1825.  He is the son and pupil of Jean-Baptiste de Noter (1786-1855), draftsman and architect and the grandson of the painter Pieter-Frans De Noter (1748-1830). Based in Brussels, De Noter specialized in still lifes, or interior scenes with a still life element. He collaborated with Henri Leys (1815-1869), Gustav Koller, Louis Tuerlinckx (1820-1894) and Alfred Stevens (1823-1906). He exhibited in Kortrijk, Brussels and London. He took part in the Paris Salon in 1855 and 1864, the year in which he lived with J Goupil (in Paris). In 1867, he lives in Le Vésinet. Recognized in his art, he wins medals in 1845 and 1852. Knight of the Legion of Honor and Knight of Christ (Portugal) in 1857. He travels and settles with his family in Algeria where he dies in 1892.

The museum of Kortrijk and the museum of Brussels preserve works of the artist.  Other works preserved in the museums of the Hermitage in St. Petersburg (“The Housewife”), The Hague (“Still Life with Lobster”), Berlin (SMB), Amsterdam (“Girl at the Window”), Mulhouse, Prague, Cambrai and Algiers
